Atletico went goal crazy scoring double figures against bottom club Alvis, as Luke Richards
filled his boots with a first half hatrick and 5 goals for the match.
AFC took a while to find their stride but once they did it was pretty much none way traffic
throughout the match. It was an even contest between the sides for the first 15 minutes until
Hinckley opened the scoring from a corner as Rich Munday saw his initial header blocked, but
with the ball falling down at his feet, he was quickest to react blasting into goal 6 yards out.
This was followed 5 minutes later as Kai Tonge ran into the area on the right lifting the ball
over the keeper, but seeing it rebound off the inside of the post. Fortunately Luke Richards
had been running in and tapped the ball into the empty net. Alvis had their one moment of hope
almost from the restart forcing a corner and then forcing Carl O'Neill into a save, which he
parried only as far as Jack Rooney who returned the ball into goal reducing the deficit. It was
only a further 10 minutes before the gap was widened back to two goals as AFC scored a third. A
corner from the right was half cleared to the edge of the area where Richards was lurking and
as he blasted a shot back in the ball took a massive deflection off Rick Fletcher and trickled
over the line before the Alvis defender could react. Richards was credited with his second goal
of night 5 minutes before half time, when another corner from the right was poorly headed away by
the defense and Richards guided his follow up header past Jack Tregarth. Richards hatrick was
complete on the stroke of half time as he was played through the middle of the defense, took
one touch on the edge of the area and guided a shot around Tregarth giving AFC a 5-1 lead at
the break.
Steve Hart was determined to get in on the action despite a number of first half close chances,
but only took him 5 minutes to get on the score sheet in the second. Another corner saw the
Hinckley striker switch posts moving to the front post instead of the back and was not tracked
having a free header to guide the ball inside the near post. Alvis presented a gift after the
hour mark when a poor back pass went straight to his feet and with the Alvis defence desperately
claiming 'offside' Richards slotted the ball home. 2 minutes later Richards didn't need any gifts,
as he was sent through one on one with Tregarth and he walked the ball around the Alvis keeper and
rolled the ball over the line scoring his fifth of the night, earning himself an early finish as
he was subbed off just after. That didn't stop the goals flowing though, and with 20 minutes of
match remaining Marley Hamilton was clumsily brought down in the area and Hart despatched the spot
kick making it nine. Double figure were reached with 10 minutes to go, again from another right
side corner, the ball being played to the centre of the goal and as Tregarth was looking to
catch the ball Munday stole in and bullet headed the ball into goal scoring his second and Hinckley's
tenth of the night. Abdul Muhammad rounded off the match scoring his first goal for AFC with minutes
left, breaking down the right channel, cutting inside and firing the ball over Tregarth into the roof
of the net, sending Hinckley into 'eleven heaven'.
