Hinckley AFC 2 - 0 AFC Mansfield
A resolute defensive performance and two second half goals for Luke Richards saw Atletico overcome their higher league opponents in the FA Vase.

AFC Mansfield started the game a league higher and having only lost twice in all competitions this season, opening the match like a team full of confidence. James Ghaichem had an early chance for the Bulls, but put his shot wide before Tyrell Belford did well to keep out Connor Smythe. In a rare attack for Hinckley Luke Richards broke free and was one on one with Jason White, but shot straight at the keeper who saved easily. Phil Buxton fired well over the bar and Nick Guest missed an open goal 6 yards out when Belford knocked the ball down, but he somehow blazed over from close in. As AFC reduced Mansfield to long range efforts Cameron Dear also tried his luck from distance and saw it sail over the goal.

Hinckley came out for the second half more determined and having defended resolutely started to apply pressure on the Bulls defence and 10 minutes into the half a delightful through ball by Bekir Halil found Steve Hart on the left, who held the ball up then chipped to the back post where Richards was waiting to loop his header over White and drop into the goal giving Hinckley the lead. With the Bulls reeling from this set back both Richards and Hart made space in the area, but saw their shots blocked. Mansfield recovered and went in search of an equaliser, Belford first tipping over a Smythe effort then making a stunning reaction save to push away a deflected Lynton Karkach shot. Minutes after that save Hinckley opened up some breathing space with a superb team passing goal as Halil brought he ball forward from midfield, skipped past two challenges, played a lovely one-two with Hart on the edge of the area, and as Halil ran in on goal drawing out White he selfishly squared to Richards in the goal area to blast into the roof of the net. Hinckley saw out the last 15 minutes protecting their lead, with Bulls chances coming mainly from set pieces that the Hinckley defence were equal to, moving into the 3rd round of the FA Vase.
