Atletico were knocked out of the League Cup at the first hurdle, but an unfamiliar side, put
in a respectful performance against a strong Coleshill side.
A side now in transition, AFC gave starting debuts to the Edwards brothers, Luke and Danny,
and Ryan Baldwin, plus making his full debut was Chad Timson from the clubs Under 18s, as well
as other AFC Under 18s Matt Jelfs coming on as a substitute. It was clear from the start that
Heathers experienced players who joined them in the summer from Coleshill were going to dictate
the play of the game. A brace of goals from Simeon Cobourne in the first half hour gave the Saints
control of the game, but Steve Hart had already forced Ben Allsop to make some good saves, before
eventually getting one past him, scoring a goal back for AFC right on the stroke of half time.
With a little positional re-shuffling at half time, Hinckley were much more competitive and the
second half was much more open. Hart especially gave Allsop work to do, but couldn't quite beat
the Saints keeper again. As the match drew to a close, and Heather's commanding back line were
happy to soak up pressure, Tom Weale broke forward with the ball and with a neat one-two, finished
off the move he started.
