Atletico finished the season with a fourth consecutive win, thanks to a double strike from
Paul Sullivan and were presented with the Runner Up trophy after the game.
In a game that had a real end of season vibe, there were long periods of slow scrappy play
with neither team exerting much pressure on the other. Luke Delaney and Kyle Minto both had
shots off target for Hayes, before Hinckley scored with the first shot on target 20 minutes
in. Paul Sullivan was played through on the left edge of the Hayes area, and he curled the
ball around Mark Wiggins and into goal off the post. Javia Roberts blasted the ball into
the goal from a low cross, but was denied by a linesman's flag, and for Hayes Delaney had a
glorious chance to equalise when he was clean through one-on-one but somehow managed to
shoot wildly over the cross bar. As Hinckley finally began to get more into the game Sullivan
fired diagonally across the area the ball drifting wide of the post.
AFC started the second how they'd finished the first and almost straight from kick off James
Williams overlapped on the right crossing for Ryan Seal to fire goalwards, though straight
at Wiggins who made a comfortable save. Sean Williams lifted the ball to the far post where
Roberts was lurking again to blast into the net, but again he was denied by a linesman's flag.
The second goal finally came on the hour after good work by Sean Williams got the ball to
Sullivan just inside the area, who with a cool head took one touch to pass the defender and
then passed the ball out of the reach of Wiggins into goal. The second goal took the impetuous
out of Hayes and the final half hour was pretty much non eventful bar a few crosses gathered
by both keepers and AFC saw out the match keeping a clean sheet.
The Hinckley players stayed out on the pitch after the final whistle and were then presented
the Runners Up trophy, pictures can be viewed on the
