Ryan Seal helped himself to a hatrick, including scoring Atletico's 100th League goal
of the season, as AFC comfortably beat the bottom club Southam United.
Jack Hartopp made his first appearance in goal since returning to the club, but had very
little to do all game as it was one way traffic from the start. The opening goal came 7
minutes in from Sean Williams, shooting from the edge of the area and the ball taking a
big deflection going into goal. On the quarter hour Ryan Seal scored the first of his three
goals and the 100th league goal this season for Hinckley, when Paul Sullivan ran into the
area in the right channel and was brought down. Seal took the resulting penalty sending
Harry Gardiner diving the wrong way. 5 minutes later AFC were three ahead as Sam Agar
ran with the ball into the area on the right, took one touch going round a defender then
fired into goal from a tight angle. On the half hour it was four, Sean Williams again from
the edge of the area, this time without a deflection past the reach of Gardiner. 5 minutes
later the goal of the game came from an unlikely source, with Seal and Agar playing one
touch through the middle of the pitch, passing in triangles around the Southam midfield and
defence, and Agar laying the ball into the path of Ryan Paddock, striking the ball first
time from just outside the area into the bottom left corner of the goal. AFC took a 6 goal
lead into the break when just before half Sullivan was on the end of a Sean Williams cross
and looped his header over Gardiner dropping into the goal.
The goals continued after the break and on the hour Seal scored his second when he controlled
a Lee Thomas low cross and blasted past Gardiner. 5 minutes after this Sullivan scored his second
of the night running onto a Seal through ball and scoring when on-on-one with Gardiner. Then
with 20 minutes remaining Seal was again providing the assist after a run by Agar down the right,
cutting back to Seal who crossed to the far post where Mark Williams was sliding in to convert
from close range. With quarter of an hour remaining Agar had to be withdrawn with a slight ankle
knock, and with both outfield substitutes already on, AFC played 5 minutes with 10 men and then
brought on goalkeeper Hadyn Whitcombe and played him up front. Unfortunately on this occasion
he couldn't add to the list of AFC goal scoring keepers, but with minutes remaining Seal completed
his hatrick as Sullivan played the ball to the wide right of the area and Seal cut inside
firing across Gardiner, putting Hinckley into double figures for the match.
