Second half goals from James Williams and Sam Agar earned Atletico the points in a hard
battle against Pershore, who would feel they had done enough to have got a draw.
With Pershore battling relegation, they obviously set themselves out very early not to lose
this game, and were very disciplined in their two banks of 5 defenders and 4 midfielders
when not in possession. Even though Hinckley had a lot of possession the forward line of
Javia Roberts and Sean Williams struggled to see any of the ball and few chances were
created. Pershore on the other hand had little possession but were direct when they did
have the ball and created more chances, the best of which saw Reece Jacobs blast over when
well placed in the area.
Haydn Whitcombe was in action early in the second half too as he saved from Jamie Clarke
when one-on-one. On the hour mark, Jacobs made up for his first half miss as he gave Pershore
a deserved lead, running down the right channel and slotting under Whitcombe as he came out
of goal. This stung Hinckley into action and were level minutes later as Lee Butler whipped
in a free kick from the left and James Williams headed back across goal into the net. With
the introduction of substitutes Sam Agar and Paul Sullivan, Hinckley finally began to look
like the team third in the league table and with 15 minutes remaining AFC scored the winning
goal. Sullivan did well on the right holding off his marker and played in Darious Darkin who
took the ball to the byline and crossed for Agar to power a 'bullet header' past Edwards
in the Pershore goal.
