Atletico went goal crazy with Ryan Seal and Paul Sullivan scoring hatricks in a comprehensive win
over bottom club Southam United, whilst AFC Juniors team player Lewis Riley makes his first
team debut as a second half substitute, setting a new record for youngest player ever to play for AFC.
With a number of players injured, notably Sean Williams and Sam Agar, it looked as if an industrious
performance was on the cards, but AFC shot out of the blocks from the whistle and the game was effectively
over in the first quarter hour as Hinckley raced into a 3-0 lead. Javia Roberts ran with the ball and
as the Southam defence backed off fired into goal from the edge of the area. This was followed up moments
later as Lee Butler put the ball on Ryan Seal foot for him to blast into goal doubling the lead.
With Southam shell shocked from those goals and their defence arguing amongst themselves on the
quarter hour mark Peter Williams unleashed a 30 yard unstoppable thunderbolt of a shot making it
3-0. AFC sensed a team in disarray and on the half hour it was four, a second for Seal, after he waltzed
around the Saints defenders and slotted home from inside the goal area. Not to miss out Paul
Sullivan got on the score sheet just before half time when Nathan Carro could only parry away
a Butler shot, and Sullivan was on hand to follow up netting from 8 yards out. There was still time
right at the end of the half for Seal to complete his hatrick, receiving the ball on the left,
cutting inside and firing across the keeper into the far corner, giving AFC a half time 6 goal lead.
With no let up, Butler scored a superb free kick in the first minute of the second half, leaving
the keeper rooted to the spot from 25 yards out. Even before the hour mark AFC added two more goals,
first Seal scored his fourth and Hinckley's eighth after a great run from Roberts on the right
jinking past two defenders and unselfishly squaring to Seal at the back post for a simple tap in.
Then Sullivan was played in through the left channel and slotted then ball under the advancing keeper.
With the score at 9-0 Lewis Riley came on as a second half substitute, the first player to make
the transition from AFC Juniors into the First team squad, and at just 15 years old became the
youngest player to play for Hinckley. With 20 minutes remaining Sullivan completed his own
hatrick converting a free kick from wide left, curling the ball around the wall and into the top
corner, another contender for goal of the season. Peter Williams then added a sublime eleventh
goal chipping the keeper from the edge of the goal area, the ball looping over Carro's head
from just 7 yards out. The scoring and the game was wound up by Roberts with 5 minutes left as
he ran through the middle of the Southam defence with the ball, going one on one with the keeper
and slotting away making it twelve goals for Atletico.
