3 second half goals from Ryan Seal, Javia Roberts and Luke Richards got Atletico back
on winning ways against Pershore, in the quest for a top four place.
In very windy conditions AFC failed to adapt and found most of their early play broke
down as through balls were taken by the wind. As a result Andy Yarnold in the Pershore
goal was rarely threatened for the first half and it was Pershore who created the better
chances. Gareth Evans saw his goal bound shot blocked, Jacob Snape saw an effort dragged
wide and then Snape again saw his chance cleared off the line by Greg Pearson. Pershore
took the lead 20 minutes in when Dan Ludlow evaded the Hinckley defence and went one
on one with Tom Cross and slotted home to go one up. It would be Cross that had Hinckley's
next chance as bizarrely from a drop kick the ball was taken by the wind, bounced over the
stranded Yarnold, but dropped agonisingly just onto the top of the goal net. Then shortly
before half time with obviously the same intent Marcus Jackson tried an effort from long
range using the wind, which beat Yarnold but crashed off the bar.
The second half was a different story for AFC, playing against the wind, as the conditions
suited their game more and virtually laid seige to the Pershore goal for the half. Just a
couple of minutes into the half and Hinckley were level, Sean Williams played a one two
in midfield and then released Luke Richards into the penalty area, who then took the ball
around Yarnold only to then be dragged down by the keeper. Ryan Seal took responsibility
for the spot kick and sent Yarnold the wrong way levelling the scores. Hinckley took the
lead after the hour mark with another good move involving Isaac Cooper and Richards down
the left with the latter crossing into the area for Javia Roberts to guide the ball past
Yarnold at his near post. The points were secured with 8 minutes remaining when again
Cooper and Richards combined on the left, with Richards being strong to keep the ball from
defenders on the edge of the area, flick the ball over his shoulder and he turned and fired
past Yarnold from 15 yards out.
