Two first half goals from Isaac Cooper saw Atletico through to a regulation
professional victory on 'the hill' at Pelsall Villa's Old Bush ground.
As with all games at Villa's Old Bush ground who plays the slope the better often wins
the game, and AFC started with the slope, taking full advantage. An early JJ Melligan
free kick was just over and then Sam Agar pulled a shot wide of the post before Cooper
gave AFC the lead on the quarter hour mark. A free kick was only half cleared to Cooper
on the edge of the area, he blasted the ball with power and even though Amrick Virdee
got a hand to the ball there was enough in the shot for it to still end up in the net.
Cooper added to his goal tally shortly before the half hour when Lee Butler's through
ball found him at the back post and he fired his shot across goal into the corner of
the net making it two for Hinckley. Both Sean Williams and Melligan went close before
half time, but AFC couldn't add to their lead.
With Villa coming down the slope second half, AFC set themselves ready for a second
half onslaught, which never really materialised from Pelsall. A lot of possession coming
down the hill never turned into goal chances and Tom Cross was content to mop up through
balls and aimless crosses without really having to make a serious save. At the other end
AFC were happy to defend the slope and break away on the counter, with Sean Williams
heading into the side netting and Javia Roberts placing his shot into the arms of Virdee,
meaning no further goals were added during the second half. Hinckley closed out the game
professionally and made sure of an away clean sheet and 3 points.
