Atletico cruised into their second consecutive Leicestershire Senior Cup Final comfortably
beating Birstall United in the Semi Final at Aylestone Park.
Birstall started out determined and packed the midfield trying to work the breakaway, but
once AFC took the lead on the half hour the game was pretty much under control by Hinckley
till the final whistle. The opening goal came from a neat move involving Lee Thomas and
Luke Richards on the left wing playing a one-two around the covering defenders and Richards
took the ball to the touch line and cut back for Marco Adaggio to guide the ball into the
net from the edge of the goal area. Just two minutes later it was 0-2 as Ryan Seal was fed
in by Javia Roberts, and Seal fired into goal from the edge of the area. Roberts was on the
end of a cynical tackle close to the corner flag 5 minutes later, and even though the free
kick was initially cleared, Mitchell Tomlinson played a great second ball to the feet of Roberts
on the edge of the area, who blasted a thunderbolt of a shot past the keeper, gaining revenge
for the foul and making it 0-3 to AFC. Roberts was the provider for Hinckley's fourth goal
just before the hour in the second half when again great work down the wing saw him set up
Adaggio who calmly slotted his second goal of the night. Adaggio had a couple more chances to
register his hatrick and both Seal and Richards hit the post, but Atletico didn't add to the
four goals settling for a comfortable win and will now look forward to the final against UCL
One side Oakham United.
