Javia Roberts returned to the club for this match against Bromsgrove, but his first
half goal couldn't stop Sporting taking the 3 points as they came from behind in the
second half.
In an even first half it was end to end without either side creating many clear cut
chances. Luke Richards saw his corner headed just over his own goal by a Sporting
defender before Chris Jay tipped the next corner onto the cross bar. A Dale Edwards
shot was deflected to safety and then no Bromsgrove player could get on the end of
a low cross area pass. Hinckley took the lead 10 minutes before half time when Ryan
Seal made space for himself on the left of the area and lifted the ball perfectly to
the far post for Roberts to head down past Jay. Tom Cross kept the score in Hinckley's
advantage just before half time when he got down low to push around a Connor Collins
long range effort.
The second half saw Hinckley reshuffle the centre of defence as Jean Kalenda didn't
appear for the second half, with the young Oli Basham taking his place. Sporting made
most of the wind advantage and laid seige to the AFC goal for a good half hour. Substitute
Kyle Turner turned the game for Sporting though when introduced on the hour. With virtually
his first touch he got on the end of a low cross from Reece Hewitt to tap in the equaliser
from close range. Then 10 minutes later with Bromsgrove still piling on the pressure, poor
defending form AFC at a corner, saw Turner sneak in at the near post and guide the ball
past Cross giving Sporting the lead. This brought Hinckley out of their second half slumber
and for the last 10 minutes kept on the pressure in search of an equaliser. Richards couldn't
get power behind an effort which was taken by Jay, then Roberts was played in 15 yards
out, but his effort just cleared the cross bar, before Richards was well placed to meet a
cross, but his header went straight into the arms of Jay as Sporting held on for the win.
