Atletico eventually cruised through the first round of Leics Senior Cup beating the
reserve team of Ashby Ivanhoe, with goals from Marco Adaggio, Javia Roberts and Elikem
Amenku.
With AFC being the higher team, as expected they made most of the attacking, but Ivanhoe
defended well, kept their discipline and at least tried to pay football, unlike some teams
AFC have played in the Senior Cup. Ashby held out for just over 30 minutes, but were then
hit with 3 goals before half time. First Marco Adaggio turned quickly 15 yards out and
guided a shot around the reach of the Ivanhoe keeper. Then Javia Roberts dribbled the
ball around a couple of Ashby defenders before his shot was deflected into the goal
wrong footing the Ashby keeper. Then straight from kick off Jean Kalenda won the ball,
and it fell to Elikem Amenku, who fired goalwards from 35 yards, and it went through
a crowded area and just inside the post with the keeper blinded and only seeing the
shot at the last moment.
The second half continued in pretty much the same shape, though was mainly notable for
the return to action for Asa Wright, who came on as a substitute in the second half. It
was Wright who could've added a fourth when he took the ball past the keeper, but couldn't
steer his shot on target from a tight angle, and then minutes later fired over from
distance. Finally it was Adaggio who scored his second of the night and Hinckley's fourth
when he flicked the ball into goal following Rico Taylor's right wing cross.
