Hinckley AFC 1 - 6 Uttoxeter Town
Oh Dear. Oh very dear. Atletico were smashed down from the weekend high and were on the receiving end of a battering from Uttoxeter Town, conceding 5 goals in the second half, and earning a massive wake up call in the process.

Uttoxeter started the better team and continued pretty much through out the match in control of the game. Hinckley's defence for whatever reason just couldn't cope and the midfield dropped deeper and deeper, and could not play their own passing game. Uttoxeter took the lead early on and never looked like losing the game after that. The very impressive Matt Redshaw was unmarked at the far post to tap in a cross from the right. Hinckley were level minutes later when John Melligan was sandwiched in the area and the ref awarded the penalty, for Melligan to convert himself. The only other surprise in the first half was that Uttoxeter did not add to their scoring and half time came at 1-1.

Uttoxeter made up for the goals in the second half, as Hinckley's discipline and shape lost all cohesion. The right flank was a good outlet for Uttoxeter and Redshaw seemed to have free roam of it. On 50 minutes he ran down the flank, around his marker and crossed to the back post for Kyle Esplin to blast into goal. This was followed 15 minutes later with Redshaw scoring his second, again from a right wing cross. With Hinckley in complete disarray, so went the discipline, with 15 minutes remaining John Clapp bundled over a Town striker in the box and the ref gave the second penalty of the night. Jack Holley scored his first from the penalty spot. With Uttoxeter looking like they could score with every attack, Alex Woods added a fifth with 5 minutes remaining before Holley rounded off the scoring again from the penalty spot right on time, after keeper Sam Arnold seemed to have got the ball, but the ref judged him to have taken the player in the area. Holley scored the resulting penalty and the ref put Hinckley out of their misery and blew the final whistle. I'd like to say the result flattered Uttoxeter, but it didn't, so I can't.
