Hinckley AFC unveiled the first three players who had agreed to play for the club at
the public meeting tonight. John Melligan, Avun Jephcott and Matt Bailey all move from
Wolverhampton Casuals, following their former manager Carl Abbott.
Melligan has a vast experience having made almost 400 appearances in the football league,
with teams including Wolverhampton Wanderers, Doncaster Rovers, Cheltenahm Town, Leyton
Orient and, erm, Dundalk...
Jephcott, started at Coventry City however a serious knee injury prevented him advancing
into the professional game. He dropped into non league playing for Nuneaton Borough, Tamworth,
Rugby and Leamington.
Striker, Bailey was on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ books, and was a squad player during Mick
McCarthy’s successful reign at Molineux. After loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers and
Burton Albion, his career was set back following a broken ankle. In non league, Bailey
featured for Stourbridge and Barwell before joining Wolverhampton Casuals.
